Segundo notícia da Antena 1 esta manhã, um reputado cientista americano, parece de facto que um Prémio Nobel, passou por Ponta Delgada, onde se declarou surpreendido ao observar o furor que a nova variante da gripe está a atiçar na comunicação social portuguesa. Segundo ele, nos EUA já se concluiu que esta nova estirpe da gripe pouco pior é do que as estirpes vulgares, que a mortalidade por ela provocada é de facto muito baixa, ao contrário daquilo que inicialmente se temia, e já ninguém anda assustado por ela. A nova gripe não passa afinal de mais uma gripe.
A Antena 1 deu esta notícia entre uma sobre a expansão da gripe em Portugal e outra sobre a falta de vacinas para a gripe em Portugal. O pânico continua a ser atiçado, apesar das sensatas observações do americano. O Verão aproxima-se e há uma dramática falta de notícias para dar - nada melhor do que entreter e assustar a população com problemas virtuais.

Overall, hospitals and health care systems in most countries have been able to cope with the numbers of people seeking care, although some facilities and systems have been stressed in some localities.
WHO is concerned about current patterns of serious cases and deaths that are occurring primarily among young persons, including the previously healthy and those with pre-existing medical conditions or pregnancy.
Large outbreaks of disease have not yet been reported in many countries, and the full clinical spectrum of disease is not yet known."
